Human rights activist and lawyer, Reno Omokri has slammed the Department of State Services for reportedly inviting Channels TV presenters over interviews granted Governor Samuel Ortom and Retired Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi.
Recall that the Nigerian secret police reportedly invited reporters of Channels TV who anchored an interview with Governor Ortom and the former navy officer.
The DSS has, however, debunked reports that its operatives arrested the TV presenters in Abuja.
It was unclear whether the journalists were only invited.
But in a spot on his verified Facebook page, Reno, a former presidential aide charged DSS to invite Abubakar Salihu, “who threatened on video to kill Christians in retaliation for the Plateau killings”.
He wrote, “How come the DSS invited the Channels Television reporters over their interviews with Navy Commodore Olawunmi and Governor Sam Ortom of Benue State but did not invite Ustaz Abubakar Salihu, who threatened on video to kill Christians in retaliation for the Plateau killings?
“We remember very well that after Sheikh Gumi made some very disturbing and untrue comments, namely that Christian soldiers are behind the deaths of Fulani herdsmen suspected to be bandits, Buhari’s National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), defended him, saying “Sheikh Gumi is doing what he is doing because he believes in what he is doing. He is a Nigerian. Under the constitution, he can talk with anybody, he can deal with anybody.”
“Yet, when Bishop Kukah spoke about the nepotism and religious imbalance in Buhari’s regime, the Presidency slammed him. Hailing Gumi and slamming Kukah. This government (if you can call it that), does not even bother to deny its bias any longer”!
