Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has dissolved the state executive council, comprising of his cabinet members.
Uzodimma, on Wednesday sacked some members of the state executive council as part of what he referred to as efforts to further engage fresh hands to achieve development in the state.
Out of the 28 commissioners that make up the council, 20 were sacked while eight were retained.
The eight commissioners not affected by the announcement were of the ministries of Health, Youth and Sports, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Woman Affairs, Works, Finance and Technology.
Confirming this to newsmen in Owerri, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba said:
“The governor said he wants to rejig his administration and soon he’s going to reconstitute his administration to further achieve his agenda for Imo people.”
The sacking of the 20 commissioners came just one month after the governor reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new Commissioners for Finance and Health.
Recall that Imo state has been experiencing series of attacks of late, with the Governor believing that his political enemies are responsible for the attacks.
